Elements of the cost of having a website
1. Website Design - Someone has to build your page(s), The architect has to design the plans, then a contractor puts the plans together in the form of a building. The same principle applies to a website.
2. Domain Name- Annual Fee for the name, your own www.youname.com.
3. SSL Certificate - E-Commerce sites that accept Credit Cards or capture personal information usually have to purchase an SSL Certificate.
4. Web Hosting - A Computer Server that stays connected to the Internet 24x7 365. There is usually a monthly subscription fee for "hosting" a website on a server. Cheap hosting is available but... You get what you pay for, such as your website being hosted on a shared server that also houses adult websites or other inappropriate material. Make SURE you KNOW WHO YOUR HOST IS!
5. Site Updates - A website will more than likely need an update at least once or twice a month. Your business may add a new product or service, you may need to change your email address, add a phone number or just change the pictures to match a holiday theme. Updating your site will likely incur a nominal charge - make sure you ask your designer if they offer updates and for what charges.
