Do you have a situation - problem - not working or just plain broke Dish Network system? Let's cover a few steps to see if this can help you get working. We offer you the VERY MOST common steps that fix 99% of the service calls we answer at MainBoard.
1. I see static on my screen.
1A. If you see static or snow on your screen, your TV is not on the proper "input channel." The input channel is the channel that your TV must be on to show Dish Network on your TV screen. An input channel can be either Channel 3 or 4 - as most of the Dish Network receiver "boxes" have this option to set the box to one of these channels. Other Input Channels are the Red & White Audio with a Yellow Video input called a Composite Audio and Video; another input is a Red, Blue, Green Video with a Red and White Audio called a Component Input; another option for input is an HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface which offers both sound and picture in the one cable. DVI or Digital Video Input offers video only and requires that you use a Red and White composite audio or a coaxial digital audio input.
As you can tell, there are several options for an "input channel" on certain televisions - you really need to learn and know this so make sure you ask your installer what input channel is on your Televisions. Write down and take notes about your TV so you can reference the notes later if you accidentially turn the channel off of the correct channel.
Believe it or not, this is the top issue with Dish Network that has been properly installed in a home. It sounds weak and seems like this could not be a problem with Dish Network, but it really is.
2. My remote does not do anything to my Dish Network, it will not change the channels and the menu will not come up.
2A. This issue has about 3 steps.
First check the batteries to make sure they are good - if you have already done this, please do it again, make sure the batteries you put in the remote were good to begin with.
Second, if the batteries are good, make sure the remote is in Satellite TV mode by pressing the Satellite Button.
Last of all, if the batteries are good and the mode is in the correct place, the receiver or "box" could be in a state of confusion must be rebooted or reset. On the right front side of your receiver, there should be a small latched door that can be opened with one or two fingers by pulling the door forward. Inside this door, there is a red reset button, push this button and wait about 5 or so minutes for your receiver to reboot and your remote should work properly again.
